It also aims to develop students? ability to analyze the effects of site factors such as climate, soil, and topography on forest ecosystems. Furthermore, the course seeks to equip students with the skills to evaluate ecosystem productivity, nutrient cycling, and sustainable forest management principles. |

| The Forest Ecology course comprehensively examines the structure and functioning of forest ecosystems, focusing on both biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) components. The course covers key site factors, including location, topography, climate, and soil properties, and analyzes the interactions among these components within forest ecosystems.
Furthermore, fundamental ecological processes such as energy flow and biogeochemical cycles?particularly carbon, nitrogen, and water cycles?are evaluated. The productivity and site quality of forest ecosystems are explained based on ecological principles. In addition, the classification of forest ecosystems, the characteristics of different site types, and ecological as well as silvicultural approaches for site improvement and management are addressed. |
