The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental principles and methods for the preparation and implementation of silvicultural plans; to introduce the ecological, technical, and legal framework that guides the planning process; and to familiarize students with the current practices of silvicultural plan preparation and monitoring in Turkish forestry, thereby enhancing their ability to develop field-oriented silvicultural plans.

Contents of the Course
The course Silvicultural Planning focuses on planning approaches aimed at managing forests sustainably while preserving their natural structure. The course content includes the definition of silvicultural planning, its core concepts, and fundamental principles. It covers how to plan natural regeneration in both pure and mixed stands, as well as the planning of tending, conversion, and rehabilitation treatments. Practical training is provided through sample stand-based silvicultural plans. The course also addresses the current silvicultural principles applied in Turkish forestry and the procedures for preparing and monitoring silvicultural plans. By the end of the course, students are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding through discussions and evaluations based on contemporary approaches.
