Education Objectives of the Programme :
The postgraduate program is designed to prepare a dentist for a career in clinical pedodontics, research and teaching. The overall goal is to educate dentists to become competent clinical pediatric dentists who will serve the public and the profession at a high level of excellence.
 
Outcomes of the Programme :
Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to :
OP-1: Identify and differentiate between normal timing and patterns of linear, orofacial, and psychological growth and development.
OP-2: Understand child behavior and anxiety. Manage children, whose behavior ranges from compliant to disruptive.
OP-3: Recognize the indications and contraindications for pharmacological behavior management behavior techniques for use with children.
OP-4: Communicate effectively with the child's parent(s) or caretaker.
OP-5: Create an accurate data base of child and parent information from which to formulate an accurate diagnosis.
OP-6: Diagnose common periodontal,systemic and genetic problems in children.
OP-7: Provide restorative care for primary and young permanent teeth in children.
OP-8: Treat pulpally affected primary and young permanent teeth.
OP-9: Diagnose and treat, when indicated, the developing occlusion of children.
OP-10: Treat children with special medical conditions in consultation with their physician and other health care providers.
OP-11: Diagnose and treat developmental anomalies of the young dentition.
OP-12: Recognize and manage medical emergencies encountered in children and adolescents undergoing treatment.
OP-13: Diagnosis and treat traumatic injuries to the developing dentition and orofacial structures
OP-14: Provide infant oral health care and helpful information to parents of young children
OP-15: Provide preventive therapies in children
OP-16: Provide radiographic and clinical diagnoses of oral-health status in child patient
OP-17: To gain knowledge about the physologic and pathologic eruption mechanisms of primary and permanent teeth
OP-18: To gain knowledge about the diet and nutritional habits in children and mothers
