Education Objectives of the Programme :
The Orthodontics postgraduate program is designed to prepare a dentist for a career in clinical orthodontics, research and teaching. The overall goal is to educate dentists to become competent clinical orthodontics who will serve the public and the profession at a high level of excellence.
 
Outcomes of the Programme :
Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to :
OP-1: provide outstanding clinical and didactic education so that the orthodontic residents provide the best possible orthodontic treatment for their patients.
OP-2: prepare orthodontic residents with the scientific background to make competent treatment decisions and to assess the quality of orthodontic treatment they provide.
OP-3: instill professional and societal responsibility in all residents that will prepare them to become orthodontic leaders and address the public need.
OP-4: provide residents with adequate computer skills to assist in practice management and patient treatments.
OP-5: provide residents and practitioners with continuing education opportunities about recent advances in orthodontics and related fields.
OP-6: contribute to the advancement of orthodontics through basic, applied and educational research.
OP-7: be a resource in orthodontics for the public and community leaders.
OP-8: manage patients with cleft lip and palate.
OP-9: understand and apply the preventive and interceptive treatment strategies in clinical orthodontics.
OP-10: competent to diagnose a patient, to collect orthodontic diagnostic records, and to evaluate and analyze these records.
OP-11: competent to diagnose and manage a patient requiring orthognatic surgery using contemporary diagnostic methods and appliances.
OP-12: understand and apply basic principles of fixed orthodontic treatment and retention protocols.
OP-13: understand normal timing and patterns of craniofacial growth and development, and to evaluate hand-wrist radiographs.
OP-14: plan removable appliances for simple orthodontic treatment and construct these appliances.
OP-15: evaluate research report in scientific background
