The aim of the course:
The aim is to evaluate restoration and rehabilitation works in landscape design, to learn how plants can be used in restoration and rehabilitation projects, and to understand the visual, ecological, and functional characteristics of plant compositions used in restoration work.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : They will learn about the characteristics of plants used for rehabilitation purposes and understand the relationships between rehabilitation efforts in rural and urban areas. They will evaluate the physical (texture, structure, compaction) and chemical (pH, nutrient content, salinity) properties 1 - 2
LO - 2 : They will classify the plants used for restoration purposes. They will evaluate basic ecological parameters such as soil, moisture, and temperature, and use this information in reports and landscape project decisions.1 - 2
LO - 3 : They will learn different planting techniques in rehabilitation designs.1 - 2
LO - 4 : They will be able to apply the results they have obtained using these techniques.1 - 2
LO - 5 : Students will be able to evaluate the use and design of plants for rehabilitation purposes within the spatial design process and transfer this knowledge to project courses.1 - 2

Contents of the Course
Definitions of restoration and rehabilitation, ecological foundations of nature restoration, urban and rural landscape areas subject to restoration and rehabilitation, transportation, recreation, surface mining areas, sand dunes, highway slopes and embankments (excavation-fill), historical and urban green spaces, landscape areas affected by pollution, the use of plants in ecological rehabilitation and restoration, related design, planning and examples.

 Week 10Analyzing a degraded area, identifying problems, and selecting the project site.
