The aim of the course:
To provide students with fundamental knowledge of the plant cell, plant tissues, plant reproduction, and the morphological and anatomical characteristics of plant organs; and to enable them to understand the structure and functions of the root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit, and seed.

Contents of the Course
Introduction to morphology and cytology; structure of the plant cell and cell division. General characteristics, classification, and functions of plant tissues. Types of reproduction in plants and basic reproductive structures. Morphological and anatomical characteristics of vegetative organs. Stem morphology and anatomy, including primary and secondary structure. Leaf morphology and anatomy, and leaf metamorphoses. Root morphology and anatomy, including primary and secondary structure. Generative organs: structure, development, and functions of the flower, fruit, and seed.

 Week 2Life conditions and the basic structural and functional characteristics of living organisms.
 Week 3Introduction to morphology and cytology; the concept of the cell and cell theory.
 Week 4Structure of the plant cell, cell membrane, cytoplasm, and basic organelles.
 Week 5Nucleus, chromosomes, and general characteristics of genetic material.
 Week 6Cell division: mitosis and meiosis.
 Week 7Introduction to plant tissues; meristematic tissues.
 Week 8Permanent tissues: parenchyma, collenchyma, sclerenchyma, and vascular tissues.
 Week 9Mid-term exam
 Week 10Reproduction in plants; sexual and asexual reproduction.
 Week 11Introduction to organography; general characteristics of vegetative organs.
 Week 12Stem morphology and anatomy; primary and secondary structure of the stem.
 Week 13 Leaf morphology and anatomy; leaf metamorphoses.
