The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to develop assessment literacy by introducing participants to the fundamental concepts, techniques, and research methods related to second and foreign language testing and assessment; to provide practical experience by enabling them to examine and design various traditional and alternative assessment tools; to support the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world situations through small-scale research projects; and thus to enhance their awareness of language assessment principles as well as their analytical and critical evaluation skills.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

Contents of the Course
The content of this course encompasses basic concepts and principles of classroom-based assessment and evaluation; different test and exam formats, as well as various question types; development and evaluation of different measurement methods (e.g., portfolios, self-assessment, learner journals); assessment and evaluation in different age groups; discrete and integrative techniques for preparing exams to test reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar; stages of test construction, item analysis, and interpretation of test scores; and topics related to language exams prepared by teachers and feedback.
