The aim of the course:
The course aims to enable the student to acquire the knowledge of postmodernism and postmodern English Novel through the study of some of the representative texts, writers, articles and extracts within their social, cultural, literary and historical context. It introduces students to the literary traditions and movements associated with postmodernism and the Postmodern Novel through the study of exemplary texts, which is essential for a better understanding of the Postmodern English Novel

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understand the characterisitcs of Postmodern Novel 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 61,
LO - 2 : identify the similarities and differences between postmodern novel and the other kinds of it, such as modern and realistic novels 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 51,
LO - 3 : interpret Peter Ackroyd's Fall of Troy as an example narrative of Postmodern Art 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 51,
LO - 4 : interpret Jeanette Winterson's Boating for Beginners as an example narrative of Postmodern Art 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 51,
LO - 5 : determine the postmodern characteristics of a postmodern novel1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 51,

Contents of the Course
It covers a historical, cultural and literary introduction to modernism along with its main figures, characteristics such as Peter Ackyrod, Jeanette Winterson, intertextuality, parody and pastiche. To this end, the course includes the main representatives of the Postmodern English Novel along with their monumental works such as Peter Ackroyd's Fall of Troy and Jeanette Winerson's Boating for Beginners. The selected novels will be analysed technically and thematically as examples of the postmodern novel.
