The aim of the course:
The main objectives of the course are as follows: - To provide students with an awareness of the notions of translation and translator based on real life, - To develop an awareness concerning the proper use of Turkish in the translation process, which means producing a text that can exist in the Turkish target language and cultural system by its own within the context of translations from English into Turkish; to contribute to such skills of students through translation practices, - To enhance students' awareness of the relationship between translation and culture; to raise their consciousness of the roles they can play in intercultural communication as an expert. - To improve students' consciousness and competence regarding "text production/writing" in general.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Explain various aspects regarding the concepts of translation and translator as well as interpretative nature of these concepts,1 - 111,
LO - 2 : Exemplify the fact that translation, above all, is a product of target language and target culture rather than source language and source culture,1 - 111,
LO - 3 : Produce target-oriented texts in English-Turkish translation processes by competently applying the grammatical and stylistic rules of Turkish.1 - 111,
LO - 4 : Analyze the reciprocal relationship between the act of translation and the phenomenon of culture, as well as the impact of this relationship on translation decisions.1 - 111,
LO - 5 : Evaluate the roles and responsibilities assumed by translators as intercultural communication experts within professional and ethical contexts.1 - 111,

Contents of the Course
This course focuses on the role of translators as intercultural communication experts within the context of intercultural communication. The course scope includes theoretical readings on cultural differences, intercultural encounters, and their impact on the act of translation. In parallel with the theoretical background, translation practices are carried out where translators are positioned as active communication experts. Additionally, practical studies on text production and the effective use of Turkish constitute the main themes of the course.
