The aim of the course:
The course aims to enable the student to acquire the knowledge and appreciation of Old English and Medieval English literature from the Anglo-Saxon period to the Renaissance through the study of some of the representative texts and writers of these periods within their social, cultural, literary and historical context.

Contents of the Course
The course introduces the student to the literary traditions associated with the cultures of old and early and late medieval England through the study of exemplary texts, which is essential for a better understanding and appreciation of Old English and Medieval English literature. It thus introduces and studies epic, romance, religious poetry, romance and courtly love and aims to enable the student to explain and discuss these literary forms and genres of Old and Medieval English literature in line with their historical, social and cultural contexts.
