Students will learn major approaches to SLA, reflect on their implications for language teaching, and develop a critical perspective by linking theory with classroom practices. |

| The course covers the definition and scope of second language acquisition; similarities and differences between first and second language acquisition; contexts of learning (naturalistic and classroom-based); behavioral, cognitive, mental, and social approaches (Universal Grammar, Constructivism, Sociocultural Theory, etc.); the role of age and the Critical Period Hypothesis; individual differences (motivation, aptitude, learning styles); cognitive effects of bilingualism; learning strategies and learner autonomy; and the connections between theoretical perspectives and modern language teaching methodologies. |
