The aim of the course:
This course aims to develop students' academic writing competence by enabling them to produce coherent, well-organized, and research-based essays in English. It focuses on helping students analyse essay questions, plan and structure different types of essays effectively, and apply note-making, summarising, and paraphrasing techniques to support their arguments. The course also emphasizes the ethical use of academic sources and accurate citation in APA or MLA style to foster academic integrity in writing.

Contents of the Course
This course focuses on developing students' academic writing competence through a genre-based and research-oriented approach. It introduces the principles of effective academic writing, including organization, coherence, and argument development. Students will explore and practice various essay types such as comparison & contrast, cause & effect, argumentative, classification, and reaction essays. The course also emphasizes the use of academic sources, guiding students in locating, evaluating, and integrating information into their writing while maintaining academic integrity and avoiding plagiarism. Additionally, students will engage in practical tasks on note-making, summarising, and paraphrasing to strengthen their critical reading and writing skills. The course further provides training in proper citation and referencing styles (APA and MLA) to ensure accurate and ethical use of sources in academic contexts.
