Until the beginnşng of the 16th century, we don not have enough archival sources for the Ottoman history and the gaps is filled by the chronics of the mentioned period. In this course we aim to compare, analyse, investigate and criticize the chronics written between the 13th and the 16th century in order to reach the most trustful knowledge for a particular time period. gerekli askeri hazırlığı yapması tavsiyesinde bulunmuştur.

In the Ottoman Empire a very rich literature were created. The first native Ottoman histories, the menakıpnames and the gazavatnames, were composed in conformity with the Islamic tradition. In addition to those Ottomans were very keen on to write the history of the Ottoman house. Most of the histories were presented to the ruler or the important people. by the beginning of the 18th century the office of Vakanüvis was created and the Ottoman history was officialy recorded. |
