The aim of the course:
The aim of the course, which will examine the historical and intellectual contexts that make up the Ottoman thought, is to identify the intellectual processes that shaped the history of the Ottoman state and society.
 
Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : They will be able to learn the framework of the Ottoman intellectual history.
PO - 2 : They will be able to explore the historical and intellectual contexts that formed the Ottoman thought.
PO - 3 : They will be able to follow and discuss the interaction between Ottoman state and social history and these intellectual processes.
PO - 4 : They will be able to gain familiarity with the sources of the Ottoman intellectual history.

Contents of the Course
The definition, scope, basic discussions, sources and institutions of the Ottoman intellectual history will be discussed in the course.By examining the fields of philosophy-science, theology, mysticism and law that make up the Ottoman thought, readings and discussions will be made on areas such as politics, economics, art-architecture and space-city, where the Ottoman thought can be traced.
