The aim of the course:
To inform students about each stage of the academic writing process, selecting appropriate sources, reading, note-taking, planning, rewriting and editing, and to gain skills through practical examples.

Contents of the Course
Each stage of the academic writing process, selecting appropriate sources, reading, note-taking, planning, rewriting and editing; the defining features of academic language, field-specific language use.

 Week 5Note taking methods
 Week 6Summarisation
 Week 7Reference and quotation; reference verbs and systems; using quotations.
 Week 8Exam
 Week 9Paragraph editing
 Week 10Writing introduction and conclusion.
 Week 11Rewriting and correction.
 Week 12Elements of academic writing; consistency.
 Week 13Language in cause and effect relationship; comparison structures; simple and complex definitions; giving examples. Homework / Quiz
 Week 14Generalising; using passive voice; word choice; academic vocabulary; spelling and punctuation.
