To increase their awareness towards corpus tools To help them create an atmosphere of self discovery To help them learn such lexical properties as "priming, prosody and phraseology"

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : learn how to make corpus based investigations
LO - 2 : learn more about the multi word combinations
LO - 3 : observe the authentic and naturally occuring data throguh corpus
LO - 4 : learn more about the lexical aspects of English language thought these observations
LO - 5 : transfer corpus knowledge into other fields of their interest as well.

Contents of the Course
The students who are enrolled to this course will be given basic corpus skills such as using corpus tools and concordances, key word analysis. They will be rerquirred to make content specific searches through corpus tools in an attemp to create an atmosphere of self-discovery and satisfaction in their parts. They will be asked to make lexical investigations from the various corpora they will be introduced and such lexical items as collocations, colligations and recurrent word combinations in English will be investigated. The aim to do is to increase their awareness towards this kind of combinative nature of English language.
