The aim of the course:
The main aim of this course is to introduce students the learning and teaching languages, the main focus of Applied Linguistics. The course aims to teach students about the main theories of first and second language acquisition, developmental patterns in language learning, natural and instructional settings in language learning and teaching.

Contents of the Course
This course mainly covers the issues about how languages are learned. It starts with an introduction to language learning in early childhood and continues to look at second language learners? developing knowledge, the ability to use that knowledge and how this compares to L1 learning. Other topics in the course includes theories that explain both first and second language acquisition, individual diffrences in language learning, natural and instructional contexts for language learning and the most effective ways to teach and to learn a second language in the classroom.
