To this end, students are expected to nurture their translation competence through the opportunities offered to improve their quality of Turkish into English and English into Turkish translation. A further expectation is to let learners develop their proficiency when utilizing translation tools such as dictionaries, the Internet software and so on. |

Introduction to literary translation (diagnostic test-introducing the course) The process of translation: Approach, textual level, referential level, unit of translating and dynamics of translationLanguage functions in terms of translation: expressive, informative, aesthetic, phatic and metalingual, vocative, Semantic and communicative translationTranslation methods: Equivalence, equivalent effect, cultural equivalent, functional equivalent, descriptive equivalent translation and culture: definitions, cultural categories, material culture, social culture, gestures and habits, translating Turkish and English metaphors, difficulties in translating culturally-loaded texts. The translation of serious Literature and Authoritative Statements (poetry-drama) . |
