Education Objectives of the Programme : |

The aim of the Pharmacognosy Master's Program is to obtain pure effective compounds from natural sources; to elucidate structure of active substances from natural sources; to perform standardization studies using different quantification methods based on active substances; to practise stabilization procedures, qualitative and quantitative analysis, biological activity studies, biotechnological studies; to execute morphological studies and anatomical studies on drugs, and to train experts on pharmacognosy. |

Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to : |
OP-1: | Knows and applies pharmacognostic methods and extraction, isolation, diagnostic reactions and quantification methods of chemical compound groups in herbal material | |
OP-2: | Knows and applies chemical and spectroscopic methods for the determination of the structure of natural compounds | |
OP-3: | Knows the secondary metabolites (essential oils, flavonoids, anthranoids, iridoids, alkaloids) found in plants | |
OP-4: | Knows pharmacopoeias and their uses | |
OP-5: | Knows the microscopic structures of drugs and determines the microscopic structures of drugs, recognizes practically the anatomical structures seen in powdered drugs | |
OP-6: | Knows poisonous plants growing in Turkey and the world and plants with economic importance | |
OP-7: | Knows plant tissue culture and biotechnology | |
OP-8: | Knows and applies chromatographic methods | |
OP-9: | Develops practical skills and experiences in the field of pharmacognosy | |
OP-10: | Develops the ability to make presentations on topics related to pharmacognostic studies | |
OP-11: | Independently conducts a specialized study in pharmacognosy | |
OP-12: | Solve the problems encountered in pharmacognosy using research methods | |
OP-13: | Uses advanced information and communication technologies together with computer software at the level required by the field. | |
