The periodontology postgraduate program is designed to prepare a dentist for a career in clinical periodontology, research and teaching. The overall goal is to educate dentists to become competent clinical periodontist who will serve the public and the profession at a high level of excellence. |

Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to : |
OP-1: | Use their knowledge of basic sciences in dentistry and especially periodontology; analyze, synthesize, solve problems and thus reache original results and new treatment methods; inform the community about these progresses. | |
OP-2: | Based on master's knowledge, reaches the most up-to-date information in the field of periodontology, analyze, synthesize and develop original ideas. | |
OP-3: | Recognize and effectively use technical equipment, devices, instruments and materials specific to diagnosis and treatment in the field of periodontology | |
OP-4: | Show awareness and internalize ethical and legal responsibilities towards patients and society | |
OP-5: | Establishes an effective and mutual communication with patients, their relatives and other healthcare professionals. | |
OP-6: | Perform the necessary inquiry to conduct a scientific research in the field of clinical and basic sciences, make a literature review on the subject, create a study plan, and evaluate the obtained data statistically. | |
OP-7: | Evaluate, analyze and interpret all data necessary to improve the diagnosis of all diseases and conditions affecting the periodontium, peri-implant tissue and adjacent tissues. | |
OP-8: | Evaluate the results of periodontal treatment and potential risk factors for disease formation/progression in collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals, providing patient and situation-specific solutions. | |
OP-9: | Determine the prognosis by analyzing the current periodontal situation and establish a comprehensive periodontal treatment plan including implant treatment and communicates effectively with patients about their disease status and treatment needs. | |
OP-10: | Educate patients and society about the etiology and prevention of periodontal and mucosal diseases and motivate them to adopt their responsibilities regarding periodontal diseases | |
OP-11: | Evaluate new information and technological developments in the field of periodontology with a systematic approach and use it routinely in daily practice | |
OP-12: | Adopts the basic knowledge in the field of periodontology and combine the knowledge gained by following current evidence-based practices along with this knowledge during its professional practice | |
OP-13: | Knows about the mechanism, effects and interactions between drugs used in the treatment of systemic diseases that may affect periodontal tissues and related structures. | |
OP-14: | Knows how to define the differences between healthy and pathological conditions not only for periodontal diseases but also for the general dental clinic. | |
OP-15: | Have the ability to participate in scientific meetings and congresses, to express and defend their thoughts on the subject, to make oral/poster presentations at meetings such as congresses/symposiums, and to share their knowledge by publishing at least one scientific publication on the subject in national or international refereed journals or presenting them at scientific meetings. | |
