FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Department of Design and its subdivisions Graphic Design were decided to open with the dated 15.01.2009 general meeting of Higher Education. It is considered to train talented, productive and qualified man power. Department began training in 2016-2017 academic year.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED  
Associate's degree in Graphic Design is given to students who graduate from vocational school. The certificate degree given is match Fifth Level of Education in as much as European Qualifiedness Frame.
Level of Qualification: Short Cycle Degree

MODE of STUDY  
Full Time
ADMISSION & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS  
The admission and registration requirements are explained in the legislation of the Turkish Higher Education Primarily, area vocational school graduates are admitted without examination within the quota for this program. The remaining quotas are filled with the standard high school graduates according to their higher education entrance examination results. The placement is made by OSYM. Registration requirements are the same as higher education entrance system.
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.



In this Directive,



- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,

- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,

- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.


Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar.
Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
Students who successfully complete their 2 academic year (4 semesters) long academic program (a total of 120 ECTS credits) and also the vocational internship earn (40 working days) their associate degree.
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
Before the start of each semester, students must register for their courses and in order to admit to the final examinations they must be continued for at least 70% of courses and 80% of practical applications. Students are subjected to midterm studies (midterm exam, quiz, homework, project, practice work, laboratory exam etc.) and the final exam for each course. All exams evaluated out of 100 point. Passing grade will be calculated by adding 50% of the midterm studies to 50% of the final exam and final grade must be at least 40 points.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
The student who has completed totally 120 ECTS credits successfully and had a cumulative gross point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, is qualified for Bachelor's Degree. And it is also necessary internships study for graduation.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Candidates who have successfully completed their associates studies take part in Undergraduate programs only if they have enough notes for DGS (Vertical Transfer Examination) examination and placed by OSYM.
