The aim of the course:
The course aims to provide the students with a general knowledge on democray and civil society.

Contents of the Course
The course aims to describe the concept of democracy and civil society. In addition, it reveals the relations between these two concepts. It emphasizes the place of the civil society and democracy in political theories. It analyzes the relations between state and civil society. It mentions the opinions of various political theories about democracy and civil society. During the course, democracy and democratic practices are lectured. Civil society organizations' influence on the development of democracy is discussed. The course enlightens national and international civil society organizations. Finally, it examines the historical development of civil society in Turkey.
