GIS basic concepts and applications; Introduction to GIS, GIS applications, historical development and current studies.
Explaining the basic concepts about the map.
Topology; Topological data representations, establishing topology, need for topology in GIS.
Data models in GIS.
Data sources in GIS. Digitization methods. Manual digitization, semi-automatic and automatic digitization.
Spatial Analysis; Classification of spatial analysis.
Raster operations; Simple and weighted proximity, weighted sum, Surface analysis
Spatial Analysis: Multi-Criteria Decision Making.
Lab-Explaining basic tools of GIS software. (QGIS open source software)
Lab- Basic operations in QGIS; Creating and editing spatial databases.
Lab- Basic operations in QGIS; Spatial query, "join table by attribute".
Lab- Map creation, symbolization, and layout creation in QGIS.
Lab- Creating population density map in QGIS.
Lab- Performing overlay and buffer analysis in QGIS.
Lab- Multiple criteria analysis in QGIS.
Lab- Project- Use of GIS in epidemic disease management (Case study: Covid-19 pandemic) .
