The aim of the course:
It aims to scope production/operations strategies, product design and process planning, capacity planning, facility location, facility Layout decisions in order to get lower costs and higher profitability for production systems.

The fundamental concepts of production/operations management, Production Systems, Production/Operations Strategies, Forecasting ,Product design and process planning, Capacity Planning, Facility location selection, Facility Layout, Work design and work measurement.

 Week 4Production/Operations strategy, operations priorities, developing a manufacturing strategy, operations strategy in services.
 Week 5Forecasting, demand management, types of forecasting, qualitative techniques in forecasting.
 Week 6Market research, historical analogy, Delphi method, linear regression analysis, measurement of errors
 Week 7Product design and process selection, designing products for manufacture and assembly, designing service organizations
 Week 8Measuring product development performance, technologies in manufacturing, CIM, EDI, Decision Support Systems and Expert Systems, Intellectual property.

 Week 10Capacity planning, determining capacity requirements, capacity utilizations and service quality.
