The aim of the course:
This course provides students with basic information about the chemical structure of non-wood forest products. They learn about the chemical components of non-wood plant products, their active bioactive components and the areas of use of these components. Students learn which solvent to use for which extractive. The course teaches students to obtain essential oils from non-wood forest products and to investigate their composition.

Contents of the Course
The chemical structure of bark and utilization techniques wood extractives, resin-terebentine and pine oil (tall oil) , analyze techniques, the utilization techniques of paper mill effluents, stereols, chlorophyl-carotene, vitamin preparats, sweet gum. Extractives in softwood, Extractives in hardwood, Terpenes and terpenoids, Fats, waxes and their compounds, phenolic compoundsPhenols, lignans, Qinones, Liquidamber orientalis (Levant storax) , sweetgum, Laurus nobilis sweet gum, laurel leaf oil.
