PO - 1 : gain advanced knowledge and understanding of the fundamental geophysics of the seismic wave propagation and earthquake mechanics in relation to earthquake hazard and mitigation.1,3

Principle of earthquake seismology. Earthquake parameters. Seismicity of earth. Earthquake hazard. Earthquake statics. Seismic risk. Source mechanisms and crustal deformations. Plate tectonics. Subduction of the lithosphere. See floor spreading. Seismicity and tectonics of Turkey. Earthquake prediction.
