The aim of the course:
To establish an understanding of Database Management Systems (DBMS) aspects of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) .

Contents of the Course
Database Management Systems (DBMS) concepts. Functions of a DBMS. Geographical Data Management issues. Geographic data management in the popular Geographic Information System (GIS) softwares and in Oracle Spatial. Spatial data extensions of these GIS softwares. Version management in these softwares. Spatial data structures used in these softwares. Term project.
