The aim of the course:
The main objective of this course is to teach theory of the GPS in detail.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : perform point positioning with GPS since they learn the basic principles of point positioning in space.21,3,
PO - 2 : learn how to obtain GPS observations, and they will be able to use combination of GPS observations in data processing phase.21,3,
PO - 3 : learn error sources in GPS observations and they will be able to eliminate them during measurement data processing.41,3,
PO - 4 : calculate 3-D coordinates of control points using any GPS measurement methods.41,3,

Contents of the Course
Concepts of position determination from space. Satellite orbits and satellite motions. Introduction to GPS, GPS satellite signals. GPS observations: code observations, carrier phase observations, single, double, triple observations. Error sources in GPS observations; clock errors, atmospherical effects, cycle slip, multipath, antenna phase center movements. GPS observation methods: static. PPP, Rapid static, kinematic, real time kinematic. Mathematical models for GPS.
