trains students to deliver first-class, original and innovative research in the broad domain of applied linguistics. It includes many related disciplines that are critical for the further development of the language sciences: linguistics, cognitive psychology, and cognitive science.Particular emphasis is given to the areas of language acquisition and processing. In these areas, we address questions such as
What do we know when we know a language? How do we acquire this knowledge? How do we use this knowledge in real time?
Research into these questions focuses on the description, development and processing of grammar, the lexicon, semantics and pragmatics, phonetics and phonology, and discourse and information structure.
