The aim of the course:
The nature of concrete and its components will be covered in the scope of the course. Mixing, transporting, placing, vibrating, compacting, finishing and curing processes along with methods, techniques and the tools used will be detailed and have the students make presentations on these subjects. In addition, maturity concept in concrete, ready-mixed concrete and thje technology used, joints and formwork in concrete will be covered.

LO - 1 : get acquainted with the natural structure and basic components of concrete. 1,31,5
LO - 2 : get acquainted with the methods and techniques used in mixing, transporting, placing, compacting, fiğnishing and curing of concrete. 1,31,5
LO - 3 : get acquainted with the maturity concept in concrete and ready-mixed concrete and technology used. 1,31,5
LO - 4 : get acquainted with the joints in reinforced structures and formwork in concrete. 1,31,5

Contents of the Course
The nature of concrete. Transition zone in concrete and its importyance. Basic components of concrete. Cement, Aggregates, Mixing water. Chemical admixtures and mineral additives. Mixing, transporting, pumping, placing, vibrating, compacting, finishing and curing of concrete. The importance of temperature regarding curing and strength development of concrete. Curing methods and curing materials. Pouring concretet in abnormal weathering conditions. Maturity concept in concrete. Steam curing in concrete. Ready-mixed concrete and the technology used. Joints in reinforced concrete structures. Joint filling materilas. Formwork in concrete works. Wood forms. Metal forms. Plastic forms.
