Rise and development of transportation. Transportation systems. Definitions of highway equipments. General properties of highway traffic and sight distances. Capacity of roads. Road geometrical standards. Profile and vertical curves. Horizontal curves and transition curves. Profile calculations; volume calculations. Mass haul diagrams and balancing. Case Study: Preparing of a highway project which is at least 500 m length; location research, outline, profile and cross section, volume calculation and soil balancing. |
