The aim of the course:
The aim is to calculate stresses and deformations of objects under external loadings and to give an ability to apply the knowledge of strength of materials on engineering applications and design problems

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : compute the centroid and moment of inertia of areas having shapes commonly found in beams.1,21
LO - 2 : understand the internal stress distribution produced by pure bending.1,21
LO - 3 : compute the equation of elastic curve and maximum deflection by using double integration, moment area and superposition methods.1,21
LO - 4 : give dimension to structural elements under combined loading conditions.1,21
LO - 5 : analyze solid bodies by various energy methods.1,21
LO - 6 : calculate the critical stress of a structure using theories relating to elastic and inelastic buckling.1,21
