The aim of the course:
Epigenetics refers to hereditary changes in gene expression without changes in the DNA sequence. Epigenetic mechanisms include covalent modifications of DNA and histones that affect the transcriptional activity of chromatin. Epigenetic mechanisms are also associated with 'cellular memory'. In this course, selected epigenetic memory samples in plants will be reviewed and related molecular mechanisms will be discussed in detail.

Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : have information about epigenetic changes.1,2,3,7
PO - 2 : discuss molecular mechanisms related to epigenetics in detail.1,2,3,7
PO - 3 : learn covalent modifications of DNA and histones1,2,3,7
PO - 4 : review selected epigenetic memory samples in plants.1,2,3,7
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), PO : Learning Outcome
