The aim of the course:
Teaching of lumber production with the maximum yield and minimum loss. Giving information on the lumber manufacturing methods, standardization and new approaches developed for sawmilling industry. To gain the ability to classify lumber according to their quality and strength properties according to the relevant national and international standards.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Defines log defects and determines the logs with the most suitable quality characteristics for lumber production4,51,
LO - 2 : Gains knowledge of lumber production workflow, sawing techniques, machines used and determines the most appropriate method according to raw material and timber properties by making the necessary comparisons2,4,51
LO - 3 : Makes the necessary yield calculations in timber production and takes the necessary precautions by defining the factors affecting the yield2,4,51
LO - 4 : Determines the most suitable saws to be used in lumber production and knows how to maintain them 2,4,51,
LO - 5 : Divides lumber into visual quality and strength classes by determining technological properties according to national and international standards4,51,4,
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome
