The aim of the course:
This course aims to enable students to critically evaluate historical events and develop a methodological perspective on historiography by using Seljuk period sources and modern historical research.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Will learn the socio-political conditions that led to the emergence of the Great Seljuk State.1,31,
LO - 2 : Comprehend the state organisation, administrative structure, military system and the functioning of the ikta system.1,41,
LO - 3 : Will be able to analyse the religious, cultural and scientific developments in the Seljuk period.1,31,
LO - 4 : Will learn the political and military relations between the Seljuks and the Crusades, the Byzantine Empire, the Abbasid Caliphate and the Batinids.1,31,
LO - 5 : Comprehend the historical effects and legacy of the Great Seljuk Empire.1,31,

Contents of the Course
The aim of this course is to analyse the political, social, economic and cultural aspects of the period from the establishment of the Great Seljuk Empire to its collapse and to analyse the effects of this period on the Islamic world and world history.
