The aim of the course:
To increase the skills for techniques of cage aquaculture with practical management examples
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : They will be equipped with technical and fundemental knowledge1
LO - 2 : dizayn and maintain cages systems
LO - 3 : feed and learn feeding methods
LO - 4 : grade and harvest fish in cages
LO - 5 : manage fish diseases in cages
LO - 6 : transfer fish of various sizes
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome

 
Contents of the Course
Principles of aquaculture, culture environment, history of cage aquaculture, cage types, advantages and disadvantages of cage aquaculture, cage types, cage sizes and stocking, traditional and modern cage aquaculture systems, site selection, environmental interaction, fish transfer and stocking, feed and feeding, routine cage maintenance, the major problems (birds, diseases, fauling, oxugen, security etc)
