Contents of the Course
Introduction of microalgae and macroalgae species used in algal biotechnology: systematics, biology and brief anatomical structures of these species. Pre-treatment of economic algal species before harvesting and biotechnology (cleaning, drying, etc.). Agar-agar production from algal species. Algae research and applications from products obtained from algaes e.g. fatty acids such as ARA (arachidonic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), pigment substances such as phycocyanin, phycoerythrin, astaxanthin and polysaccharide production. Microalgae of potential for the production of biofuels, a renewable and non-toxic source of energy. Production of sipuriline from algae, production of alginic acid and other chemical substances from algae
