The aim of the course:
To develop advanced nursing competencies in assessing the psychosocial and psychiatric care needs of surgical patients, applying supportive communication strategies, and formulating multidisciplinary

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

PO - 2 : Evaluates stress and adaptation responses occurring in the preoperative and postoperative periods.1,5,
PO - 3 : Identifies postoperative psychiatric conditions such as delirium, depression, and anxiety, and develops appropriate care plans.1,5,
PO - 4 : Applies supportive communication techniques within the context of patient- and family-centered care1,5,
PO - 5 : Implements appropriate nursing interventions addressing changes in body image.1,5,

Contents of the Course
This is an advanced-level course aimed at strengthening a holistic approach to nursing care by addressing common psychological responses, psychosocial stressors, and psychiatric risks in patients undergoing surgical procedures. It equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to professionally manage conditions encountered in the perioperative period, such as anxiety, pain management, changes in body image, adaptation difficulties, traumatic stress, delirium, and depression
