The aim of the course:
The course aims to develop students' reflective skills regarding their language learning and language teaching experiences. The course also aims to create argumentative skills from theoretical perspectives and express their insights at an academic level.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : Students will develop the ability to read and interpret foundational linguistic and literary theories. By engaging with texts from Saussure to Jakobson, they will explore how language functions as a system of signs, a medium of thought, and a cultural construct, fostering deeper theoretical awarenes
PO - 2 : Through texts that explore metaphor, narrative, and referentiality, students will examine how language constructs meaning in literary and non-literary contexts. They will learn to identify linguistic patterns, discourse levels, and semiotic structures, enhancing their interpretive skills across genr
PO - 3 : Students will connect theoretical insights to their own experiences as language learners and educators. This reflective practice will help them critically assess pedagogical assumptions,
PO - 4 : Students will enhance their critical thinking skills and develop empathy by synthesizing theoretical frameworks through experiential academic writing. This reflective approach will deepen their pedagogical awareness and increase their potential to contribute to applied linguistics.

Contents of the Course
This course provides an overview of primary theoretical texts in language studies. Most of the topics covered in the course center around language, literature, and linguistics from theoretical perspectives.
