The aim of the course:
The aim of the course is to enable students to know the contemporary linguistic theories that emerged after the 1950s, to make comparisons between the approaches between the theories, and to evaluate different philosophical foundations such as structuralism and rationalism underlying the approaches.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

Contents of the Course
The content of the course consists of an overview of linguistics and history of linguistics, principles of linguistics and traditional grammar, definition, scope, fields of study, methods and relations with other branches of science; branches and types of linguistics, basic concepts and principles; linguistics movements and representatives.
