| In this course, students will learn about the nature and purpose of science and scientific research, the goals of social science, and different approaches to knowledge. Topics will include the definition of research, its rationale, and originality. Within the framework of research types and key concepts, students will gain knowledge about descriptive and relational research, qualitative and quantitative methods, variables, and hypotheses. The processes of topic selection, developing researchable questions, conducting a literature review, and writing a research proposal will be covered in detail. In the data collection and analysis section, students will learn about experimental research, action research, field and classroom research, historical research, document analysis, ethnographic research, survey design, interviews, observation, and measurement methods, as well as qualitative and quantitative data analysis. |
