The aim of the course:
To comprehend the expansions of the concept of city and to be able to interpret the relationship between novel and city.
 
Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : Will be able to learn the meaning of the concept of city in different disciplines
PO - 2 : Will be able to evaluate the results of urban and urbanisation phenomena
PO - 3 : Examine the reflections of the city and urbanisation on the individual and society through the novel genre
PO - 4 : Will be able to analyse the appearances of the problematic of city and urbanisation in the structural elements and thematic fiction of the novel
PO - 5 : Will be able to identify and analyse the perception of city and urbanisation in Turkish novel
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), PO : Learning Outcome

 
Contents of the Course
The birth of the novel genre, the sources and characteristics of the novel; novel art and theories, novel analysis methods, analyses on selected works from Turkish and world novels, novel-city relationship.
