The aim of the course:
The concept of education, which forms the basis of educational institutions, has an important role in the personal development of the individual and the development of societies. Throughout history, the aims and systems of education have changed according to different periods and societies, alternative approaches have been produced by thinkers interested in education and these approaches have been reflected in the architecture of educational buildings. In this context; the aim of the course; to provide students with information about different alternative education approaches and the relationship of these approaches with the learning environment, to teach students how to analyze education buildings in line with changing user needs according to different alternative education approaches with the information they have acquired in courses and research, and how to reflect the information about the organization of spaces belonging to these approaches to designs.

Contents of the Course
Fundamental Concepts of Learning and Teaching; Traditional and Contemporary Learning-Teaching Approaches and Methods; The Concept of Alternative Education Approaches; Child and Space, Learning and Space Relationship, 21st Century Educational Environments, Alternative Education Approach and Its Reflection on Architecture: Montessori Schools, Reggio Emilia Schools, Dalton Schools, Waldorf Schools; Examination of School Examples from Different Educational Approaches (Form, Spatial Organization, Spatial Quality, Function, etc.).
