Focusing primarily on the mesnevi Hüsn ü Aşk, the course examines allegory, mysticism, aesthetic renewal, and the transition from classical to modern literary paradigms through close textual analysis. |

| The course begins with an overview of 19th-century Turkish literature, its genres, the Encümen-i Şu`arâ circle, and mesnevi production of the period. It then focuses on the life, works, patronage relations, and renewal efforts of Şeyh Gâlib. Selected ghazals, chronograms, and tercî`-bends are analyzed through textual commentary. In the second half of the course, Hüsn ü Aşk is examined in depth with respect to allegory, characters, mystical symbolism, and narrative structure, and is comparatively evaluated alongside the Leylâ vü Mecnûn tradition.
