| MIM2017 | Architectural Project - III | 4+4+0 | ECTS:9 | | Year / Semester | Fall Semester | | Level of Course | First Cycle | | Status | Compulsory | | Department | DEPARTMENT of ARCHITECTURE | | Prerequisites and co-requisites | MIM1006-Architectural Project - II must have been passed | | Mode of Delivery | | | Contact Hours | 14 weeks - 4 hours of lectures and 4 hours of practicals per week | | Lecturer | Prof. Dr. Nihan CANBAKAL ATAOĞLU | | Co-Lecturer | Related lecturers of Department of Architecture | | Language of instruction | Turkish | | Professional practise ( internship ) | None | | | | The aim of the course: | | The scope of the course can be summarized under the title DEVELOPMENT IN SPATIAL PRODUCTION: Technology. The primary objective of the semester is to add the concept of technology to the concepts of space, form, function, and structure, which are among the structural requirements of space, and to consider and question all these concepts together. The course aims to convey to students the structurality of space; building and construction systems; economic and appropriate system selections through the design of a single structure/building within a non-complex program framework. |
| Learning Outcomes | CTPO | TOA | | Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to : | | | | LO - 1 : | Develop the knowledge they have acquired about the concept of architectural design; | 8 | 3,6 | | LO - 2 : | Reinforce their previous acquisitions in architectural design (space, form, function, structure); | 8 | 3,6 | | LO - 3 : | Acquire knowledge about building and construction systems, construction technologies, and economic and appropriate system selections in architectural design; | 8 | 3,6 | | LO - 4 : | Use and apply the knowledge they have acquired mainly in the given project area and in line with the project topic and objective. | 8 | 3,6 | | CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome | | |
| The relationship between space, form, function, and structure experienced in previous semesters is expected to be questioned, interpreted, and reinforced in a more comprehensive way through technology in this semester. Thus, through the design problem, students are expected to acquire increasingly complex thinking and interpretation skills and to understand problems by resolving them as a project at the scale of a single structure/building. |
