The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to teach the concept and characteristics of local government, and to provide information about the administrative and financial structures of local governments in Türkiye and around the world.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : define the main concepts of local governments11,
LO - 2 : Will learn about the different types of local government in Türkiye.11,
LO - 3 : The provincial administration gains knowledge about the administrative and financial structure of municipalities and villages.11,

Contents of the Course
Central and local administrations: rationale for local administrations. Characteristics of intergovernmental relations. Allocation of services and revenues between administrations. Local administrations in variety unity and federal countries. Local administrations in Turkey: municipalities, city local administration and villages. Problems of metropolitan municipalities. Relations between local authority bank and local administrations. Problems of local administrations and solution suggestions.
