The aim of the course:
The course aims at teaching the methods and knowledge that are required for control of the mine atmosphere and planning of ventilation systems
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : define mine atmosphere, pollutants of mine atmosphere and threshold values of pollutants.2.1 - 3.11
LO - 2 : summarize the reasons and effective factors of methane explosions and instantaneous methane ejections.2.1 - 3.11
LO - 3 : explain reasons and effects of rock and coal dust explosions.2.1 - 3.11
LO - 4 : calculate head losses of mine ventilation networks.2.1 - 3.11
LO - 5 : analyze natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation.2.1 - 3.11
LO - 6 : identify measures over temperature and humidity of air.2.1 - 3.11

Contents of the Course
Mine air and mine gases, control of gases released from underground mines, methane and its properties, methane drainage and its application principles, methane measurement methods in underground mines, mine dusts and preventing methods, heat sources and effects in mines, mine fires and control methods, natural and mechanical ventilation, fan application to mines, analysis of mine ventilation circuits and networks.
