The aim of the course:
Fundamentals of GIS, theoretical and practical knowledge on Spatial Analyses.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

PO - 2 : Use GIS software (desktop)
PO - 3 : design their term project
PO - 4 : orally defend their term project

Contents of the Course
GIS Overwiew. Concepts and applications, Graph theory and Topology, Topological data structures, Building topology in a GIS, Database Design in GIS, SQL (Structured Query Language), Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) concepts, standards. Spatial Analyses (SA); Classification of SA operations, Vector SA; Vector overlay operations, Spatial queries. Raster SA. Characterizing neighborhood (Slope, orientation, convexity), Reclassificiation operations, raster overlay, proximity, Network Analyses; road, utilities, and hydrographic networks, Shortest Path Algorithms, technologies, Modelling dynamic processes and spatio-temporal data; Space-time cube, Computational Fluid dynamics and its applications in GIS, Statistics and GIS; Hot Spot Analyses, Term project.
