The aim of the course:
Increasing the students' knowledge on molecular biology of the gene and gene expression in procaryotes and eucaryotes in a relative manner and prepare them for a graduate study.

Programme OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : describe the three ways bacteria can exchange genes as well as understand restriction endonucleases. 1,2,71,5
PO - 2 : understand the molecular structure of eukaryotic chromosomes and repetitive DNA 1,2,71,5
PO - 3 : understand methylation and its function in chromosome inactivation and gene imprinting 1,2,71,5
PO - 4 : describe eukaryotic posttranscriptional processing, initiation of translation and posttranslational modifications 1,2,71,5
PO - 5 : contrast and compare the molecular genetics (structure and control) of prokaryote versus eukaryote genes 1,2,71,5
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), PO : Learning Outcome
