Contents of the Course
Historical introduction and basic principles. the pyhsics of the magnetism. The magnetic properties of metrials. Rock magnetism. Remnant magnetizations in rocks. Magnetic field of the earth and its time and space variations, origin of magnetic field, secular variations. introduction paleomagnetism, magnetic surveying, magnetic anomalies as measured offshore and their relation to mid-ocean spreading centres in plate tectonics.
